Week 4 results: down 2.6 for a total of 17.8 for the first month! I was hoping to make it a clean 20 lbs, but I am sporting a 2.6 lb loss instead of a 4.8 loss this morning due to the party last night at my house (I did exactly what I said I wasn't going to do) and falling head first into a bag of candy on my birthday! But, it's about consistency, not perfection, so I will take my 2.6 lb loss and continue on my journey!
Let me tell you about the candy...at my mom's I had a Dove peppermint promise. It's basically peppermint bark on the top and chocolate on the bottom. I had one last week at my mom's and it was divine. I wrote it down in fitday only to find that it was a mere 46 calories. I thought, wow, that's pretty reasonable. I should get some and have 1 or 2 a day as my treat. (are you done laughing...can I go on?) Money is tight, and I didn't want anything spent on me for my birthday, so I asked Jake for a bag of those Dove's. So I got them on Saturday, had 1...then 2. Then in the afternoon, Steve took a nap, Jake was in his room playing and I was relaxing watching TV...with the bag of Dove's on the table next to me still in the gift bag. You can figure out what happened. When Steve woke, I surrendered the bag to him to dole out. And informed him that we wouldn't be buying anymore. When I threw out the wrappers, I counted 12. 500 calories of chocolate. I guess my fat girl brain still believes somewhere that I can be that person who won't go overboard. Not in this lifetime. Some things just are not going to ever happen, and my being able to portion control chocolate like that is one of them.

Congrats on the loss Sandi! You are doing so well. I am maintaining a large loss and still have "fat girl brain!." I would probably have tested myself in the same way with the Dove candies so don't feel bad. Sometimes the whole weight loss thing really is just trial and error to find out what works. As long as the overall trend is downward; you're on the right path!
T.S.
Hope you're doing well Sandi. Merry Christmas to you!
