RIP Biscuits and Gravy
Biscuits and Gravy are so easy to make and a real family favorite at my house. Nothing like a casual Sunday morning and a plate of biscuits and gravy. We typically have it once a month, if not more. This past weekend, I wanted biscuits and gravy. So I looked it up. 374 Calories for 1 cup of sausage gravy. 1 cup might cover 2 biscuits. My typical serving would be 3 biscuits total. That would be 561 calories for the gravy and maybe another 450 calories for the 3 biscuits. Over a thousand calories for just breakfast. I could convince myself that I would just eat light for the rest of the day, but I would just end up eating anyway and have a really high calorie day. So not worth it. (Let's not even get into how unhealthy they are for you, calories aside) Typically, I have taken our favorite foods and just had less, or modified them for me, so I still have my favorites. But there really is no modifying biscuits and gravy. And I don't trust myself to eat less. So biscuits and gravy will no longer be a staple at my house. If it's a special occasion and we are out, I might indulge in a small serving, but not on a Sunday morning just because. RIP.

I like how much thought you put into this decision. You really weighed the pros and cons and decided it just wasn't worth it. I don't do "moderation" of high calorie foods very well so I've had to give up stuff as well. I had to grieve for the loss of my beloved Big Macs!
