What a storm!!!

Boy did we ever get storms last night!! I am so glad we had those trees removed at the house earlier this year. We would have been up all night worrying about them. It amazes me, but Jacob never wakes up during storms. I thought for sure last night, but he slept right through!

10/2
Calories: 1800
Exercise: 13 min elliptical; 22 min treadmill

My water aerobics class was cancelled last night (someone poopied in the pool!). So I hit the Y for some cardio. I was pretty happy with my workout. Since I wear my heart monitor, I am aware of how hard I am working. I do the treadmill at 2.4. Pretty wimpy, I know and my heart monitor reflects that. I really have to pump my arms to keep my heart rate up. But any faster and I feel like I am going to fall. So last night I decided to do intervals. After 2 or 3 minutes I bumped up my speed up to 3.1 for 1 minute, then when I dropped it back down, I stopped at 2.5, after 2 minutes back to 3.1, then when I went back down, I stopped at 2.6. It seemed easy because 3.1 is so hard. I kept doing this and found that more than 2.7 is just too fast for me right now, but I ended up doing 5 mins or so at 3.1 and most at 2.7. Much better than 20 mins at 2.4. Tonight I will hit the Y again. I have been upping my ellptical time a minute or 2 every time I go.

Good idea on treadmill to go up to 3.1 for a minute. I need to do that also. I am not pushing myself hard enough. Know what you mean about feeling like you are going to fall. My legs are so short I can't walk as fast as others would have to jog and just don't want to do that to my knees. Storms are something this year! Glad you were not affected.
Hey don't forget to post your statement from your book. Way to go on your exercise Sandy. Proud of you!

Well, I don't know whether to go into much detail at all, because my comments on your last couple of entries disappeared! Oh yes, they were full of motivational and helpful thoughts and ideas, but I guess when it comes down to it, the most important thing was the happy anniversary wish!

Just how does one manage to poop in a public swimming pool?? Please tell me it was a parent/tot class!

Good job on the exercise! You're really going to notice the difference soon. Weight loss from cutting back on food alone is great, but that extra "tone" you get from exercise really shows in your clothes before you even see a change on the scales.

The interval training is the best, it is really the workout that gives the most benefit for the effort put forth. I have noticed that my endurance has increased a lot with the intervals on the treadmill and the eliptical.

Oh yeah, interval training is a great way to go. I used to do that all the time before my treadmill died on me and I got my Gazelle. You can really push and challenge yourself by trying to extend your time and speed.

Poop in the pool? Um, ewwwwwww! ;D
