Hump Day!

It's a sunny 5 degrees here in Northwest Indiana...Brrrrrrr.

I am happy to report that we are still 100% on track. Exercising every day (still can't do more than 4 min on that elliptical) and staying within my calorie range.

I am already feeling better. My spirits are high, my legs aren't bothering me and I'm on track. Life is good.

Sunday is the Superbowl. I had told my brother that we'd bring homemade frosted sugar cookies like we made for Christmas. I have since called him back and told him that we will bring some dessert, but not homemade cookies. It would be a disaster. Cookies are my weakness. I remember last year at SuperBowl, I was on plan until the minute I walked in the door and grabbed a cookie. This kind of party is hard to stay on plan through...but I have a plan. Instead of not eating, I will bring something that I can eat that's kind of fun. I'm thinking a crispy chicken/spinach salad. That way it won't be obvious that I am not eating all the other junk.

Edited to add:
Today I brought a Lean cuisine pizza for lunch because I didn't have to make lunches for the boys and I thought it would be nice to have something different. As I was microwaving it, I checked the calories...380. Yikes! I used to consider this a good alternative, but compared to my 230 calorie sandwich (bread, turkey, cheese & mayo) It seems a little steep. Guess I'll skip my 76 calories of grapes that usually goes with the sandwich today. Definately not something I will have all the time. Then just fopr kicks and giggles, I looked up my normal Wendy's lunch that I would have when not on plan (which unfortunately, is alot). Chicken sandwich w fries - medium...970 calories. Or my other favorite is a double with cheese w fries - medium...1190 calories. Wow! That speaks volumes.

It really is no wonder.

The key to party survival really is bringing something healthy that you'll enjoy and not feel deprived eating. The funny thing is that often the 'healthy' choice - fruit kebobs, veggies and dip, shrimp etc - gets gobbled up by everyone else while the greasy crappy stuff is left alone.

Congrats on stringing those good days together, Sandi - you rock!!
