It's a rainy day here in Indiana. But a welcome relief from the heat wave we have been having!!
Yesterday was good eats wise and she really killed us at water aerobics. OMG!! She did this whole new thing with stations. One was jogging back & forth in the pool, the next was stair stepping, the next was upper body weights and the last one one walking up the side of the pool. We did this circuit 4 times. Whew. My legs felt like jelly!! And I loved every minute of it!! I am going to have to be sure and do some sort of exercise tonight. Even if I just walk the dog or do 10 or 15 mins of my step aerobics tape. Yesterday I signed up for PUSH through www.3fatchicks.com. They are having a promotion for members where you get 30 days free. It should be interesting, they ask you all these questions and then send you a customized workout CD. Water aerobics is great, but I need to work out more than twice a week if I really want to see results.
A while back I started getting really bad charlie horses in my calves at night. They would be so bad that the cramp would stay in my muscle for many days after. Finally I went to the doctor. He ruled out blood clots and had me do a PAD test. Nothing. So I have some muscle relaxors for when they get bad. Lately, I hadn't been having any. I had thought that maybe they were realated to hydration, but I have been drinking tons of water. Over the weekend, Hubby and I were in Indy at a work party and I had to wear flats (which means I didn't have any support!). I wore them for about 7 hours. Alot of that was sitting, but I did alot of walking too. That nigt, not only did I get cramps in both calves, but I got the worst cramp I have ever had in my thigh. It lasted several minutes. Luckily I had a muscle relaxor with me and I managed to get some sleep. I have had calf cramps each night since. *sigh* I know that maybe I should go to the doctor, but really, I think it's the extra 200 lbs that I force my body to carry around each and every minute. My heel spurs has been pretty painful lately too. Right now, this is my motivation. Walking and not hurting. When I get up, my legs are so stiff, I feel like I am 80 years old.
This is why today will be another successful food day and why I will get some exercise. I can't go on feeling so poorly. I am too young for this!!!!

Sandi - hugs - I'm so sorry that it took pain to finally get you to where you need to be, but you're on your way now and nothing's gonna stop you! I'm so glad you're blogging and am going to check in with you every morning to see how you're doing. :) There will be good days and bad days, but you nailed it - the key is consistency. Can't wait to share this adventure with you!
Love ya!
Hi Sandi! I'm thrilled you have a blog. Love to read 'em!
I have very bad leg cramps when I exercise - had them my whole life. I found out when I had a full blood work-up for something else that I have very low potassium. that causes leg cramps. It's hard to figure out how to fix it - not a good supplement that I can find, but I haven't asked my doctor about it. I'm eating cantaloupe, potatoes, bananas, raisin bran to get it to the right level. Also, caffeine can actually deplete minerals.
So, just a thought.
I've had a crazy health year, and am just recovering from a hysterectomy. I have hopes that after this I will feel much better.
I'll be back to your blog!

Oh wow, that water aerobics class sounds awesome!! Sooooo wish I could go too. I know those darn charlie horses can just suck the life out of you. Why, exactly, do they always choose to strike in the middle of the night I wonder? Hmmm, potassium, good supportive shoes, and of course, consistent exercise and taking off some pounds. Just keep it up honey; those charlie horses will be a thing of the past in no time.
