Start-fit

Calories: ?
Exercise: 45 minutes water aerobics

The trainer from the YMCA called yesterday and set up my appointment for last night after water aerobics. Yahhhh!! Nothing like getting started! The program is for 12 weeks and I am committed to 3 - 30 minute workout sessions per week. We get to work out in a separate room for the 12 weeks.

THE PLAN:
  • Meet with trainer to set goals - DONE!
  • Weeks 1-4: 3 session per week (30 min cardio)
  • Meet with trainer and she assigns 4 weight machines
  • Weeks 5 - 8: 3 session per week (30 min cardio & 4 weight machines)
  • Meet with trainer and she assigns 4 more machines
  • Weeks 8 - 12: 3 session per week (30 min cardio & 8 weight machines)
  • Meet with trainer to discuss progress and get an orientation on weight machines in the main room.
I have to log in when I work out and write what I did & how long & stuff, so that Nancy (the trainer) can review my progress and keep tabs on me. There are 3 machines for cardio. Ellptical (which is my favorite, although I get leg cramps), the NuStep and the treadmill. Which I will be training on to do this...just kidding!! When I did this a few years ago, I was up to 25 minutes on the elliptical, now I only manage 5-7 minutes. She wants me to do as much time on the elliptical as I can and then spend the rest of the time on the Nu Step. That really surprised me because I never could get my heart rate up on the Nu Step, but she says if I keep increasing my workload, I should be able to. I have a Polar Heart Rate monitor and I will wear that when I work out so that I know I am working hard enough. I can see me coasting at times, if I don't have something to go by. I also want it so that I know when I am over-doing it. We will not be counting the water aerobics as part of the program since I am already doing that and am very consistent. we want to add more. So for the next 12 weeks, I be working out 5 days a week! :)

COMMENTS RE: SURGERY: As I was writing yesterday's post, I thought too, that maybe it sounded like someone who needs the surgery. And that's still an option, but one that I am trying to avoid. I really want to do this without the surgery. That's why I am trying so hard to set myself up for success. If I can make some headway in the next 12 weeks, that just might be enough to push me over the edge and really do this once and for all. Plus, most insurance companies usually require that you have completed a medically supervised weight loss program before they will approve the surgery and that's what seeing this doctor would be. I have left a message for Dr.'s nurse practitioner to call me back. Jen, see, I know I am not doing a good job, most days I don't even try. I CAN Lose weight, if I bother, I don't have to starve. If I would just stay under 1800 calories and move, I would lose. I don't agree that for the obese surgery is the only solution, more like it's one of the solutions. I don't see the surgery as an easy road at all, so I will continue to try to avoid it. But I will not let my weight be a non-issue any more. I will face it and conquer it one way or another. That's one of the reason I started this blog, so that I had to face my weight every day!! Thanks for caring enough to comment!

I need a picture today...how about this one...this will keep me smiling all day!

Well, that's better. You've got yourself a great plan set up and a support system to give you a push if you need it. Full speed ahead, my dear :)

I love Dr. McDreamy!! That helped me out too.. That gym thing sounds like a good Idea. I need to get my booty back to the gym. I keep talking about it but continue to find excuses not to go. I'm proud of you Sandi!

I'm so glad to see that you are all set up with your 12 week plan and feel more motivated. I know you can lose weight, it's a matter of sticking to your calorie goals and exercising. You can do it! Good work!
